Do babies run fever when teething?

My little one is cutting her first tooth, and along with being cranky, she also has a slight fever. Is it common for babies to run a fever when they are teething, or should I be concerned about something else?

My grandmother used to say teething naturally brings a hot body, but our doctor clarified that it only causes a very mild warmness. If the fever is high, it is likely due to some infection from putting things in their mouth. Trust your doctor and keep toys clean.

When my baby was teething, her body temperature would go up slightly but it was never a high fever. With my own health issues, I learned never to assume things. It's always best to get a pediatrician's follow-up if the fever crosses 100 degrees.

Agree with everyone. Teething only causes a very mild warmth, so a high fever definitely means you should consult a doctor.

My baby recently went through teething and had a slight temperature of around 99°F, which is normal. However, every child is different, so please be cautious. If the fever is high or accompanied by loose motions, consult your doctor.

I know how scary it is when your baby's forehead feels warm and you start worrying if they are sick. Teething usually just causes a mild body warmth, not a high fever. Try to stay calm, it is a very natural milestone.

Please do not ignore a high temperature by assuming it is just because of teething. For your baby's safety, always use a thermometer to check the exact reading and consult your pediatrician if it goes over 100.4°F.
