Do artificial sweeteners cause cavities?

I'm trying to cut down on sugar and have started using artificial sweeteners in my tea and coffee. My dentist recently warned me about cavities, and I'm wondering if these sweeteners could be the culprit.

The sweeteners themselves don't feed the bacteria that cause cavities, but the acidic sodas they are usually in will definitely erode your teeth. At my age, even breathing near a sweet seems to cause dental issues, so brush twice daily!

Don't ignore oral hygiene even if you switch to artificial sweeteners. I thought sugar-free drinks meant no cavities, skipped my dental checkups, and ended up needing two root canals. Get a proper dental cleanup done regularly.

Nahi beta, sweeteners se direct keeda nahi lagta hai dant me kyunki woh sugar nahi hoti. Par humare bade kehte hain ki saaf-safai rakhna sabse zaroori hai, khane ke baad acche se kulla kiya karo.

Technically, bacteria can't ferment artificial sweeteners, so they don't directly cause cavities. However, many sugar-free products are highly acidic, which still damages enamel. Keep your habits simple: rinse your mouth with water after consuming them.

I am trying to reduce sugar and wanted to try stevia instead. Does stevia also have the same effect on teeth, or is it completely safe for dental health? Thank you in advance for helping me out.
