Do antibiotics cause stomach pain?

I started a course of antibiotics a couple of days ago for a stubborn cough. Since then, I've been having some stomach pain and feeling a bit uneasy. Is it common for antibiotics to cause stomach pain, or should I be concerned about something else?

Yes, they can definitely cause stomach irritation because they disturb your gut bacteria. If your doctor allows, taking a gentle 15-minute walk after meals can help with digestion and ease the bloating or cramps.

Yes, it is a very common side effect because antibiotics are quite strong. Just try not to take them on an empty stomach and drink plenty of water to help soothe your tummy.

Oh god, yes! Every time I take antibiotics, my stomach starts cramping like crazy. I usually have to eat a big bowl of dahi with my meals to survive the course.

My mother always tells me to drink buttermilk when taking strong medicines to soothe the stomach, but my doctor also prescribed a probiotic capsule along with the antibiotic. It really helped reduce the stomach burning.

Our stomach is very sensitive, and strong medicines can upset its natural balance. Stay calm, eat light and simple khichdi, and let your body heal peacefully while you complete your course.
