Do antacids help gallbladder pain?

Lately, I've been having this discomfort on my right side, which my friend said could be gallbladder issues. I usually take antacids for acidity, but I'm wondering if they would offer any relief for what feels like gallbladder pain. Should I try them?

No, they really don't help at all. Gallbladder pain is usually due to stones or inflammation, whereas antacids just neutralize stomach acid. When I had gallbladder attacks, only a doctor prescribed painkiller and eventual surgery resolved it.

Many people confuse gallbladder pain with normal acidity and keep taking antacids. But gallbladder pain is typically on the upper right side of your stomach and can shoot to your back. Please go to a hospital and get an ultrasound done instead of self-medicating.

Haan, log shuru me antacid le toh lete hain par usse kuch farq nahi padta na. Gallbladder ka pain thoda alag aur bohot tez hota hai. Agar dard peeth tak ja raha hai toh turant doc ko dikhao, acidity samajh kar baithe mat raho.

Back in my day, I also tried drinking gel antacids thinking it was just heavy food causing gas. It turned out to be a large gallstone. Don't worry, the doctors treat this very safely nowadays, so get a proper scan done.

I am experiencing some sharp pain in my upper abdomen and antacids aren't working at all. Is this what gallbladder pain feels like? Should I go to a general physician or a specialist for this?

Trying to cure gallbladder pain with an antacid is like trying to put out a house fire with a water pistol! It won't work, boss. Better get your ultrasound done before your tummy decides to go on strike again.

Save your time and don't wait for antacids to work. If you have severe abdominal pain, nausea, or fever, please go to the nearest emergency room. Gallbladder issues can escalate quickly if ignored.

I already manage my BP with regular checkups and a low-salt diet. When my relative had gallbladder pain, no home remedy or antacid helped at all. It is best to consult a doctor immediately and keep your health vitals in check.

I panicked so much when I had this pain and swallowed three different antacids in one night, but nothing worked. Finally went to the clinic and got treated. It is a very common issue and easily manageable once diagnosed correctly.

My gastroenterologist explained that gallbladder pain occurs when the gallbladder contracts against a stone, while antacids work on stomach acid levels. Since the mechanism is entirely different, antacids will give zero relief. You need a proper clinical evaluation.
