Do amish get cancer?

I was watching a documentary about the Amish community and their lifestyle. It made me wonder if their way of living, with less modern medicine and exposure, affects their chances of getting something like cancer. What's the general understanding on this?

Yes, they do get cancer, but their lifestyle keeps them away from modern processed foods and pollution, which lowers their risk. Keeping our own lifestyle simple and eating home-cooked food is the best thing we can do.

My relative did a lot of research on lifestyle-based health and found that while Amish people have lower rates of lung cancer due to no smoking, they still get other types of cancer. Organic living helps, but it is not a complete shield.

Yes, they do get cancer, though their overall rates are lower due to their active lifestyle and healthy habits.

My elders always say that living close to nature prevents major illnesses, which is why Amish have fewer cases. But modern medicine and regular screenings are still necessary to detect things early.

Of course they do. Cancer is genetic as well as environmental; no community is 100% immune to it just because they live off the grid.

Their simple, whole-food diet surely plays a huge role in their overall health, but genetics and other natural factors still cause cancer in their community. Diet is a shield, not an absolute cure.

Hey, it is a very valid biological curiosity. Yes, they get cancer, but they cope with it very privately within their close-knit communities. Don't worry too much about these statistical variations.

Their high physical activity from farming keeps them very fit, which naturally lowers obesity-related cancer risks. It just proves that staying active is one of the best defenses we have.

I totally get it, you are looking at their natural lifestyle to see if it holds the secret to preventing cancer. While their clean living helps reduce many risks, they unfortunately still suffer from the disease like anyone else.

Yeah, they get it too, buddy. They just avoid smoking and drinking which keeps their lung and oral cancer rates super low compared to mainstream folks.

Do not believe those viral WhatsApp forwards claiming the Amish are completely cancer-free because they don't get vaccinated. Scientific studies show they definitely get cancer, so consult real medical literature instead.

I am actually very new to reading about the Amish community. Do they use modern hospitals and oncology treatments if they get diagnosed with cancer, or do they only rely on herbal remedies?
