Do almonds cause kidney stones?

Recently, I was advised to cut down on oxalate-rich foods because I've had kidney stones in the past. I love eating almonds every morning. Can eating almonds regularly increase the risk of forming kidney stones?

Oh, I completely understand your worry because kidney stone pain is absolutely terrible. It is true that almonds have oxalates, which can be scary if you are prone to stones, so the anxiety is very real.

Hey, relax, eating a few almonds daily won't suddenly give you kidney stones. Just don't overdo it, drink plenty of water throughout the day, and you will be absolutely fine. I am here if you need to talk more.

Soaking your almonds overnight and peeling the skin helps a lot in digestion and reduces the oxalate load. Along with this, practicing daily water therapy and pranayama keeps the kidneys functioning beautifully.

I totally get it, you want to eat healthy but the fear of kidney stones makes you doubt everything. Almonds do have high oxalates, so if you are sensitive, maybe swap them for pumpkin seeds or walnuts after talking to a nutritionist.

If you already have a history of calcium oxalate stones, even small dietary triggers can cause issues. Please get a renal ultrasound and a urine test done, and consult your doctor before adding nuts to your diet.
