Do all obese people have fatty liver?

My cousin is obese, and her doctor just told her she has fatty liver. I'm also on the heavier side, and it made me worried. Is it true that every obese person eventually develops fatty liver disease?

No, not all obese individuals have fatty liver, though the risk is significantly higher. Some people have a higher genetic tolerance for fat storage in other tissues rather than the liver.

I completely understand the anxiety around this, as I also feared the worst due to my weight. But after my ultrasound, my liver was perfectly normal, so please don't assume the worst before getting tested.

Actually yaar, it is a very common connection, but it's not a rule. Some thin people also get fatty liver because of a bad diet, so it is more about lifestyle than just weight.

No, son, it is not necessary. If you eat simple ghar ka khana and avoid oily sweets, your liver will remain strong even if you are heavily built.

Haan na, weight is not the only reason. Some of my heavier friends have clean reports, while someone thin can have Grade 1 fatty liver; it really depends on your metabolism.
