Do air fresheners cause cancer?

Air fresheners are sometimes used at our home, especially in the bathroom. My neighbour was telling me that these sprays can be very harmful and might even cause cancer. Is there any truth to this claim about air fresheners?

I prefer keeping my air clean naturally. Regular exercise and eating clean foods keep our lungs healthy, but using too many chemical sprays indoors might expose us to unwanted toxins.

Beta, these artificial sprays have too many chemicals. In our days, we used camphor or fresh flowers to make the house smell nice. It is better to use natural things to keep your family safe.

Don't panic, occasionally using them won't give you cancer immediately. But yes, try to open the windows and get fresh air instead of relying on chemical sprays all the time.

I literally threw away all my room sprays last week because I was reading about VOCs and phthalates. It is so scary to think about what we are breathing in. Maybe switch to beeswax candles just to be safe?

There is no direct proof of cancer, but they do have harmful chemicals that can irritate your lungs.

My doctor told me that while they don't directly cause cancer on their own, the synthetic fragrances contain formaldehyde and benzene which are known carcinogens. It is best to avoid aerosol sprays in closed spaces.
