Do acidity cause shortness of breath?

Lately, I've been getting a lot of acidity, especially after meals. Sometimes, I also feel a bit breathless. Can acidity cause shortness of breath, or should I be concerned about something else?

Oh god, yes! Every time I overeat chole bhature, the acidity pushes up against my chest and I feel like I can't breathe properly. I really need to control my spice cravings because that chest tightness is no joke.

Bro, same here. During exams when I live on black coffee and instant noodles, the acid reflux gets so bad that I literally feel breathless sitting at my desk. Drinking cold milk usually helps cool down my stomach instantly.

I completely understand how terrifying it feels when you can't catch your breath, it makes your heart race and causes so much panic. I used to rush to the clinic thinking it was a heart attack, but it was just severe GERD. Your feelings of fear are totally valid, just try to take slow breaths.

Yes, acid reflux can irritate the airways and cause breathlessness, but you must be very careful. Shortness of breath can also be a sign of a cardiac issue. Please visit a proper hospital immediately and ask your doctor clearly to rule out any heart problems.

According to my health tracker, my heart rate spikes when I have bad acid reflux, which explains that breathless feeling. I started tracking my meals and noticed high-sodium foods trigger it. Try using an app to monitor your food triggers, it helps.

Look, severe acidity definitely causes chest pressure and breathlessness. But don't just sit there assuming it is gas. If it doesn't go away with an antacid or if you feel pain radiating to your arm, go straight to a doctor without wasting time.

I didn't know acidity could actually affect your breathing, I thought it only caused a burning feeling in the throat. Does this happen right after eating, or can it happen on an empty stomach too? I am experiencing this for the first time.

Yes, it really can! The acid can creep up your food pipe and trigger a reflex that makes you feel breathless. I find that sleeping with my head elevated on a double pillow and not lying down immediately after meals helps so much.
