Could a sinus infection cause jaw pain?

A really bad sinus infection for the past few days has me worried, because now my jaw is starting to ache quite a bit. Could a sinus infection actually be causing this jaw pain? It's really bothering me when I eat.

Yes, absolutely! The maxillary sinuses are right above your upper teeth, so when they get clogged, it feels like your whole jaw is aching. It's the worst because I couldn't even chew my favorite mutton biryani properly during my last sinus flare-up.

While sinus pressure can cause jaw discomfort, don't assume that's the only reason and ignore it. It could also be a dental abscess or a TMJ issue. Stop trying random remedies from the internet and get a proper diagnosis from a doctor or dentist.

My 12-year-old had this last month and was crying about a toothache, but the dentist found nothing. Our pediatrician then diagnosed a sinus infection and prescribed nasal drops. Placing a warm washcloth over her cheeks and jaw helped comfort her a lot.

I totally get how exhausting it is when your whole face and jaw ache like this. It is incredibly uncomfortable and makes even talking difficult. Try to rest, keep yourself hydrated with warm soups, and definitely see a doctor if the pain is unbearable.

In my experience, jaw pain is a very common companion of sinus congestion. I used to get this every winter and worry about dental issues. A simple warm compress on the face always brought great relief, but do let a doctor check if the ache is severe.

Yes, it is called referred pain. I log my symptoms on my health tracker, and there is a clear link between my sinus congestion days and jaw stiffness. Taking a warm shower and using a humidifier in your room can help reduce the sinus pressure.

Look, the sinuses are very close to your jaw, so pressure there will obviously make your teeth and jaw hurt. Don't start taking heavy painkillers on your own. Do hot steam inhalation twice a day and consult a doctor if it doesn't get better.

Bro, yes! Last semester during exams, I had this crazy sinus infection and my back teeth were hurting so bad I thought I had a cavity. Turns out it was just sinus pressure pressing on the dental nerves. Once the cold cleared, the jaw pain vanished.

Oh, definitely. Sinus pressure can make you feel like your teeth are trying to escape your mouth! Before you panic and think you need root canal surgery for every tooth, try some steam inhalation. Most likely, it's just your sinuses acting up.

Yes, sinus infections often cause referred pain to the upper jaw and teeth due to the close proximity of the nerves. While steam and saline drops help relieve pressure, if the pain persists or is accompanied by high fever, you should consult an ENT specialist.
