Can zio patch detect heart attack?
My cardiologist recommended I wear a Zio patch to monitor my heart. I was wondering how advanced these patches are. Can a Zio patch actually detect a heart attack if one occurs?

The Zio patch is used for recording your heart's rhythm over many days, not for detecting an active heart attack. For keeping your heart healthy naturally, light walking and a low-salt diet are great. But if you have chest pain, breathlessness, or left arm discomfort, please go to an emergency hospital immediately.
Please do not rely on patches or home monitors if you suspect heart trouble. I once ignored chest pressure thinking it was just acidity, and it turned out to be a major blockage. If you feel any pain or tightness, immediately go to a hospital with a proper cardiac emergency unit.
My son had to wear a Zio patch because of some irregular heartbeat issues. It is basically a continuous ECG monitor that records rhythm disturbances like arrhythmia, but it is not meant to diagnose an acute heart attack. It is very useful for long-term monitoring though.
I wore a Zio patch for two weeks to investigate some palpitations I was having. From what my cardiologist explained, it is designed to catch abnormal heart rhythms like AFib, not to detect a heart attack. It was very lightweight and easy to wear during daily chores.

I am a bit confused because my grandfather's doctor suggested this patch. Does it mean it won't help if he has a sudden cardiac emergency while wearing it? Should we keep another emergency monitor at home?
