Can zero sugar soda cause kidney stones?

I drink a lot of zero-sugar soda as I prefer it over regular soft drinks. Recently, I heard from a neighbour that these kinds of drinks can cause kidney stones. Is there any truth to this claim?

Drinking plenty of water with fresh lemon juice is the best way to prevent stones naturally. Soda, even zero sugar, has phosphoric acid which can increase the risk of calcium oxalate stones. If you are having sharp pain in your back or side, don't wait, please see a doctor immediately.

My doctor told me that hormonal imbalances from thyroid can sometimes affect mineral absorption, and sodas can make kidney health worse. It is very important to get routine urine and kidney function tests done if you consume these regularly, just to be safe.

In our family, they always advise drinking tender coconut water and barley water to flush out any heat or stones. However, my physician also confirmed that carbonated beverages contain high sodium and phosphates which are known culprits for stones. I completely trust his advice and avoid them now.

I actually read a study about this and got so scared that I stopped drinking diet sodas completely! The thought of kidney stone pain is absolutely terrifying. Please stay safe and try to replace at least half of your soda intake with plain water.

Look, the main issue is dehydration. If you drink one can of diet soda but drink 3 liters of water throughout the day, your risk of stones is very low. Just make sure you are not replacing water with these drinks.

Honestly, I barely have time to sleep, let alone worry about kidney stones. But the thought of passing a stone makes me want to drink a gallon of water right now. I guess I'll throw away this diet soda can for today!

I just recovered from a 6mm kidney stone last month, and the pain was unbearable. My urologist specifically asked me to stop my daily diet soda habit because the phosphoric acid is a major contributor. Trust me, you do not want to go through that pain.

Haan na, even I heard that these fizzy drinks are not good for the kidneys. Even if there is no sugar, the chemicals are still there. It is better to drink normal water or fresh lassi instead of risking stones, ho na?

When I was dealing with kidney issues, the stress and pain were really draining. It is so hard to change your lifestyle when you are used to enjoying these sodas, but protecting your kidneys is absolutely worth the effort. You can do this, just take it one day at a time.

Managing my high blood pressure means I have to keep my kidneys in top shape. Sodas have a lot of sodium and chemicals that can affect kidney function and BP. Make sure you get regular kidney function tests and blood pressure checkups if you consume these often.

As a vegetarian, I focus a lot on clean eating, and processed sodas really don't fit into a healthy diet. The high phosphorus content in zero-sugar sodas can disrupt your calcium balance, which might lead to stones. Try infusing your water with mint and cucumber instead.

I can't give medical advice, but I used to drink diet sodas every single day. Eventually, I started getting mild lower back pain and my doctor advised me to cut back on carbonated drinks. Once I stopped, the discomfort went away.

In the fitness community, people drink tons of diet soda to manage sweet cravings, but it can definitely impact your kidneys if your overall hydration is poor. Try to focus on keeping your daily water intake high and maybe restrict the sodas to just a weekend treat.

Drinking such artificial, carbonated drinks disturbs the natural balance of our body. From my experience, keeping the body hydrated with copper-pot water and practicing simple yoga twists helps keep the kidneys healthy. Try to avoid these heavy canned sodas.
