Can your pancreas start working again type 2 diabetes?

I was recently diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, and the doctor said it's largely lifestyle-related. I'm trying my best to make changes, but I'm curious. Can the pancreas, after being affected by Type 2 diabetes, actually start functioning normally again with proper diet and exercise?

I completely panicked when my HbA1c hit 8.5, thinking my pancreas was ruined. But my doctor explained that in Type 2, the pancreas is just overworked because of insulin resistance. Once I lost some belly weight, my sugar levels came back to normal and I felt so relieved.

I am so worried about my recent diagnosis. Is it actually possible to make the pancreas work better if we lose weight, or is this damage forever? Did anyone here manage to get off their medications completely?

Don't stress too much, beta. In Type 2, your pancreas is not dead, it is just tired. If you start eating clean, cutting down on sweets, and walking daily, you can ease the load on it and it will function much better. Take it one day at a time.

I go to a reputed hospital here, and my specialist clearly told me that while you can't 'cure' it, you can put Type 2 diabetes into remission. This means your pancreas can produce insulin efficiently again if you reduce fat around your organs. Do consult a qualified endocrinologist for a proper plan.

Don't fall for these YouTube videos claiming to completely reverse diabetes in 10 days with some herbal juice. The pancreas doesn't magically reset like that. Go to a proper doctor, get your insulin levels tested, and follow scientific advice only.

Yes, it actually does improve! I recently brought my HbA1c down from 7.8 to 5.6 just through strict portion control and daily exercise. My doctor said my insulin sensitivity improved so much that my pancreas doesn't have to struggle anymore.

Our bodies have a wonderful capacity to heal when we treat them with respect and calm our minds. Keep a positive attitude, eat fresh satvik meals, and do some gentle pranayama. Your health will surely improve with peace and consistency.

In our family, we use bitter gourd and fenugreek seeds to help keep sugars stable. But my doctor explained that while these help, the real work is reducing carbs in our daily rice diet. It helps the pancreas recover its strength naturally.
