Can your kidney explode?

This sounds a bit dramatic, but I saw a scary post online about organ failure. I was wondering if it's even physically possible for a kidney to 'explode' inside the body due to some health issue or injury?

I barely slept three hours last night and this question is making me check if my own side hurts. No, your kidney won't literally blow up like a firecracker, but severe untreated infections or massive kidney stones can cause serious damage.

This sounds really terrifying to think about. Does this happen suddenly, or does a person get warning signs like pain or fever before things get that severe?

Do not let such scary thoughts disturb your mental peace. Keep your body hydrated and eat simple, pure foods to keep your system clean. If there is ever real physical discomfort, just trust your doctors and take care of your health.

Let's be realistic, organs don't explode like bombs. Yes, trauma or a massive blockage can cause a kidney to rupture, which is a major medical emergency. If you are experiencing sudden, sharp flank pain, stop reading online and head to an ER.

They cannot explode literally, but a severe blockage can cause a rupture. Always consult a doctor if you have extreme lower back pain.

It won't explode, but high pressure from blockages can damage it permanently. Drinking plenty of water and staying active helps keep small stones away. If your doctor cleared you, regular walking also keeps blood circulation and kidney function healthy.

My husband had a very large kidney stone that blocked his urine flow and caused immense swelling in the kidney. The doctor said it was close to rupturing due to pressure, but thankfully they operated on time.
