Can you vomit in your sleep?

I woke up coughing badly last night and had a strange taste in my mouth, almost like I had vomited a little. It made me wonder if it's actually possible to vomit in your sleep without waking up properly. Is that something that can happen?

Yes, this can happen if you have severe acidity or eat a very heavy dinner right before sleeping. A simple solution is to keep at least a 2-hour gap between dinner and bedtime, and sleep with your head slightly elevated. Avoid deep-fried food at night.

Vomiting while sleeping is actually quite risky because of the danger of choking or aspiration into the lungs. Don't try home remedies or ignore this. You must consult a doctor immediately to find out the real underlying cause.

Haan, sometimes when the stomach is too upset or full of gas, it can happen at night. It is very scary, so always drink a little warm water with saunf after dinner to calm the stomach. Take care of your health, child.

Actually, throwing up while asleep can happen due to food poisoning, alcohol intake, or severe acid reflux (GERD). If you or someone else is prone to this, always sleep on your side (the recovery position) rather than your back to prevent choking. Please see a doctor to get a proper assessment.

Hey, don't stress too much, it might just be a one-off thing from a bad stomach bug or extreme acidity. Just stay hydrated and try sleeping on your side tonight. But if it happens again, promise me you'll go see a doctor, okay?

This sounds really terrifying and honestly, I would be too scared to sleep. What if it gets into the windpipe? Please get it checked by a doctor immediately to be completely safe, and try sleeping with an extra pillow to keep your chest raised.

Oh my god, this actually happened to my hostel roommate after we had some really sketchy street food. It was so terrifying to watch because she didn't even fully wake up at first. Definitely avoid heavy, oily meals late at night before sleeping.

I was just reading about this online yesterday out of curiosity! Apparently, it is closely linked to gastrointestinal issues or sleep apnea where the throat muscles relax too much. It is definitely something worth discussing with a healthcare professional.

My husband had a similar issue last year, and we immediately went to a specialist at Max Hospital. The gastroenterologist explained it was silent acid reflux and prescribed specific medication. I highly suggest you consult a proper doctor instead of trying to self-diagnose.

That sounds like a scene straight out of a horror comedy movie, but yes, it can happen if your dinner decided to fight back! Jokes aside, just keep your dinner light and maybe avoid that extra spicy midnight maggi for a few days.
