Can you use whitening strips if you have gum disease?

My teeth are a bit stained, and I'd like to try whitening strips for a brighter smile. However, my dentist told me I have early signs of gum disease. I wanted to ask if it's safe to use whitening strips when you have gum issues.

I panicked so hard when my gums started bleeding after using a whitening strip, honestly I thought I ruined my teeth forever. My dentist told me it's totally normal for them to react if your gums are already sensitive or inflamed. Just heal your gums first, then think about whitening.

Please take gentle care of your teeth, they are precious. If your gums are already weak, avoid these strong chemical strips which might cause pain. Focus on healing your oral health first with patience.

Uff, gum disease means no spicy food if those harsh whitening chemicals make things worse! I would rather have slightly yellow teeth and enjoy my hot biryani peacefully than suffer from burning gums. Better to skip the strips for now.

Oh god, even I was thinking of buying those whitening strips but my gums bleed a bit while brushing. Has anyone else tried them with sensitive gums? I am too scared that it will cause sharp shooting pain or make my gums recede further.

Just like keeping blood pressure in check requires regular doctor visits, dental health also needs a proper professional look. If you have gum issues, those OTC strips might worsen the inflammation. Please get a proper dental checkup before trying any cosmetic products.
