Can you use sick time for mental health?

My workload has been insane lately, and I'm feeling completely exhausted mentally. I have some accrued sick time at my office. I wanted to know if sick time can be legitimately used for a mental health break or if it's strictly for physical illness.

While you can legally use sick time for mental health, do not rely on internet advice on how to present this to your employer. Consult your healthcare professional to see if you need a formal medical certificate to secure your leave safely.

Yes, you can use your sick leave for mental health. Please take this time to rest and recover; your well-being is the most important thing.

I totally get it, sometimes the mental exhaustion is just too much to handle. Taking a sick day to rest your mind is completely okay and very much needed. Please take care of yourself and don't feel guilty.

Yes, mental health is fully covered under sick leave. Just inform your team that you are taking a medical day off.

Yes, most corporate policies cover mental health under sick time now. Simply apply for sick leave on your portal; there is no need to write long explanations. Just keep it professional and say you are under the weather.

I am quite new to working in an office and always feel too shy to ask about these things. Is it really okay to use sick time for mental peace? Do we have to show a doctor's slip for just one day?

Of course you can! A mental breakdown is just as real as food poisoning from yesterday's street food. Take the day off, binge-watch your favorite show, and ignore those work emails.
