Can you use hydrocortisone cream on piles?

I've been dealing with piles for a while, and the itching is quite bothersome. Someone suggested using hydrocortisone cream to ease the discomfort. I want to know if it's safe to apply this cream directly on piles.

I had terrible itching from piles last year and tried using a basic hydrocortisone cream. It did soothe the burning for a short while, but my doctor later told me not to use it for more than a few days as it can make the sensitive skin there very thin.

Piles and constipation can sometimes happen if you are under stress, which also affects your blood pressure. While hydrocortisone can relieve the local itching, you must focus on a high-fiber diet, drinking plenty of water, and getting regular health checkups.

I know how uncomfortable and embarrassing piles can be, but you are not alone! Hydrocortisone can help with the swelling and itching, but it's much better to get a proper cream designed specifically for piles, which usually has a local anesthetic to numb the pain too.

Yes, hydrocortisone is often an ingredient in hemorrhoid creams to reduce swelling. My advice is to apply it very sparingly after a warm sitz bath. Don't use it for more than a week, and make sure you take a stool softener so you don't strain.

Hypothyroidism often causes severe constipation, which directly led to my piles issue. While temporary creams like hydrocortisone help with the discomfort, managing your thyroid levels with regular blood tests is the real key to solving the root cause.
