Can you take sick leave for mental health?

I've been feeling incredibly stressed and overwhelmed with work lately, impacting my focus and sleep. I'm wondering if it's possible to take sick leave for mental health issues. My manager told me it's not a valid reason.

Honestly, if my brain is completely fried and I haven't slept in days, I am definitely calling in sick. Mental fatigue is as real as a bad stomach upset. Just tell your manager you are unwell and take the day to sleep it off.

Yes, absolutely! Mental health is just as important as physical health. 😊 Many modern companies in India are super supportive of this now. Just mark it as a sick day, take some time for yourself, and recharge!

My father always believed that if your mind is restless, your body will soon fall ill too. If you are feeling overwhelmed, it is completely correct to take a sick leave. If it persists, please speak to a counselor or a doctor to get proper support.

Beta, if your mind is very tired and heavy, then taking a day's rest is very important. You don't have to always have a fever to take leave. Just tell your office people that you need to rest and sit quietly at home for a day.

Having thyroid issues makes me prone to extreme mental fatigue and anxiety, and I often have to take sick leave for it. Mental health is directly linked to your physical hormones. If you find yourself needing leaves often, please visit a doctor for a proper checkup.
