Can you take pepto bismol with liver disease?

My doctor told me I have a fatty liver and some mild liver issues. I sometimes get acidity and stomach discomfort. Can I take Pepto Bismol for that, or will it cause problems with my liver condition?

I can only share what happened in my family; my father had fatty liver issues and his doctor strictly told us not to give him Pepto Bismol or similar heavy syrups. I cannot tell you if it is safe for your specific condition. You must consult your hepatologist for this.

I totally get it, managing stomach issues when you already have liver concerns is so stressful and exhausting. But please be very careful because the liver has to process everything you swallow. It is best to avoid taking Pepto Bismol without asking your specialist first.

Bro, liver issues are no joke, yaar. Actually, taking over-the-counter medicines like Pepto Bismol can sometimes put load on your liver. Better to just avoid self-treatment and ask your doc directly.

As someone working closely with healthcare, I always advise patients with liver disease to steer clear of Pepto Bismol. It contains salicylates, which can increase the risk of bleeding in people with liver impairment. Please stick to what your doctor prescribes for acidity or nausea.

When dealing with liver disease, the body's ability to metabolize certain drugs is significantly reduced. Pepto Bismol contains ingredients that could potentially stress your liver further. Consulting your doctor is the only safe and logical approach here.

With liver issues, you shouldn't risk any self-medication as it can complicate things quickly and ruin your work routine. Don't waste time looking up forums online. Just send a quick message to your treating doctor to know which antacid is safe for your liver.
