Can you take metformin if you don't have diabetes?

Hearing a lot about Metformin lately, not just for diabetes but for anti-aging and weight management too. I don't have diabetes, but I'm curious if it's something people can take for these other benefits. Is it okay to take Metformin without a diabetes diagnosis?

Yes, actually! My doctor prescribed it to me for my PCOS even though my sugar levels were normal. It helps with insulin resistance, but definitely consult your doctor first.

At the hospital I go to, the physician explained that metformin is used off-label for weight loss and PCOS. But you should ask your doctor clearly to see if you actually need it.

I have been taking metformin for insulin resistance without being diabetic. It works well, but it can cause stomach upset initially, so ask your doctor about starting with a low dose.

Don't worry, it is quite common to take metformin for non-diabetic reasons like PCOS. Just don't self-medicate; let a proper doctor evaluate your blood reports first.

Oh, I would be so anxious taking a diabetes drug if I don't have diabetes! Please make sure your doctor has run all the necessary blood tests before you start it.

In my experience, doctors these days prescribe metformin for many metabolic issues, not just diabetes. Just follow your doctor's advice and don't take it on your own.

I take metformin for my pre-diabetes and metabolic health as prescribed by my doctor. I highly recommend talking to a physician instead of deciding on your own.

I panicked when my doc suggested metformin since my sugars were normal, but then I found out it's very standard for PCOS. It is completely normal, just consult your doctor.

For managing insulin or weight, traditional diet control and daily walking are very helpful. If the doctor still advises metformin, then only you should take it.

My doctor explained that metformin helps lower insulin levels even if blood sugar is normal, which is why it is used for PCOS. But he also said proper dosage monitoring is essential.
