Can you take magnesium with thyroid medicine?

Taking medication for my thyroid for a long time, I recently heard that magnesium can be good for general health and energy. I'm wondering if there's any interaction or issue if I start taking magnesium while continuing my thyroid medicine.

I am also quite new to managing thyroid issues and was wondering the same thing. Do you have to keep a gap of a few hours between taking magnesium and your thyroid pill?

I know how stressful it is to worry about drug interactions and thyroid levels. It used to keep me up at night, but a quick chat with my doctor cleared things up. Please ask your doctor for peace of mind.

I usually prefer getting nutrients from natural foods, but since you are on thyroid medication, even natural magnesium can affect your pill. Please consult your doctor for a proper advice.

As someone managing thyroid for 5 years, I always get my blood tests done regularly. Any supplement like magnesium can affect absorption, so always follow up with your doctor before starting it.

My mom takes thyroid meds and she was told to avoid taking any other supplements like magnesium at the same time. Best to just ask your doctor about the safe gap.

Please don't trust random health tips you read online about mixing supplements. Thyroid medication is very sensitive and magnesium can interfere with its absorption, so verify this only with your doctor.

My daughter has thyroid issues and was advised to take her thyroid medicine first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. If you need magnesium, your doctor will probably tell you to take it at night, so please consult them.

Hey, don't stress too much about it! It's usually just a matter of spacing them out, but definitely ask your doctor to give you the exact timings so you don't have to worry.

Hey, I take thyroid meds too! My doctor told me that magnesium can stop the thyroid hormone from absorbing properly if taken together, so I always keep at least a 4-hour gap. Definitely check with your doctor too.

I made the mistake of taking my minerals and thyroid pills too close together, and my TSH levels got completely messed up. Please see your endocrinologist to get a proper schedule for your medications.
