Can you survive melanoma skin cancer?

My neighbour was diagnosed with skin cancer, specifically melanoma. It's quite concerning. I'm trying to understand the prognosis better – can people actually survive this form of skin cancer?

Melanoma has a very high survival rate when detected in its localized stage. However, because it can spread quickly if ignored, getting a professional evaluation and biopsy from a certified oncologist is the most critical step you can take.

It is survivable, but please don't take it lightly. In my case, the cancer spread to nearby lymph nodes because we delayed the initial surgery, which made my treatment much longer and more painful. Go see a specialist immediately.

Please get any growing skin spot checked right away. I ignored a dark mole on my arm for almost a year thinking it was just a normal birthmark, and I still regret how close I came to a major disaster. Early checkups save lives.

I can only speak from my own journey of having a mole removed from my back. The biopsy came back as stage 1 melanoma, the doctor excised a bit more skin, and I've been cancer-free for four years now with just regular skin checkups.

Yes, early-stage melanoma is highly curable with simple surgical removal of the tumor. Modern immunotherapy has also greatly improved the survival rates for advanced stages. Just make sure to get a clear pathological staging done first.

Yes, absolutely survivable. After my friend's surgery, he focused on clean eating, drinking plenty of water, and doing basic workouts to keep his immunity high. Keeping your body in peak physical shape helps massively with recovery.

We got my mother's skin lesion treated at a reputed hospital in Mumbai. The team was excellent and explained the surgery clearly. I highly recommend discussing all the stage details and margins with your surgical oncologist directly.
