Can you still get scarlet fever?

My son came home from school with a red rash and fever, and the doctor said it might be scarlet fever. I thought that was an old-fashioned disease that doesn't really happen anymore. Can you still get scarlet fever these days, or is it very rare?

Yes, it is still around, especially in kids. If diagnosed, rest is super important, so hold off on any physical activities or walks until the doctor gives you the green light.

I completely understand the panic when you hear about rare-sounding illnesses. Yes, you can still get it, but don't worry because it is easily treated with simple antibiotics nowadays.

Yes, it is still possible to get it. Just watch out for a bright red rash and a very sore throat, and see a doctor.

Actually yaar, it is just a bacterial throat infection with a rash. It sounds scary because of old books, but a quick visit to the doc will resolve it with some basic antibiotics.

Yes, scarlet fever is caused by a strep bacteria and still occurs. Please consult a qualified doctor at a good hospital immediately if you suspect it, as it requires proper prescription medication.

My grandson had this last year. Make sure they finish the entire course of antibiotics prescribed by the pediatrician, even if the fever and rash disappear early.
