Can you still be contagious without a fever?

My son had a viral infection last week, and while his fever has gone, he's still coughing a lot. His grandmother thinks he's fine since there's no fever. Can you still be contagious even if you don't have a fever?

Yes beta, you can absolutely spread the virus even without a fever. Drink hot kadha with ginger and tulsi, rest well, and keep a distance from family members so they don't catch your cold.

Definitely. Fever is just your body's immune response, not a measure of how contagious you are. If you have a cough or runny nose, you are shedding the virus, so wear a mask and stay isolated.

Honestly, yes! Last month I had zero fever but my sister got the same bad throat infection from me. It's safer to avoid sharing food or glasses if you are feeling even slightly sick.

I used to panic thinking I was safe if my temp was 98.4, but my doctor cleared it up. You can easily spread viral infections without running a temperature, so just isolate yourself until your cold symptoms go down.

My body is too tired to even produce a fever these days, but I still manage to pass my cold to the entire office. Yes, you are contagious; don't wait for the thermometer to hit 100 to take a sick day.
