Can you snore and not have sleep apnea?

My wife complains a lot about my snoring, saying it's very loud. I'm worried it could be sleep apnea, but I don't feel unusually tired during the day. Is it possible to snore loudly and not have sleep apnea?

Yes, snoring can simply be a sign of a tired body or nasal congestion. Rest your mind, try some deep breathing exercises before sleeping, and take care of your health with a positive outlook.

Absolutely, I used to snore heavily because of a deviated septum, not apnea. Try sleeping on your side instead of your back, and use nasal strips. If you feel tired during the day, only then look into a sleep study.

My son used to snore a lot because of enlarged tonsils, but it wasn't sleep apnea. Once we treated the congestion, the snoring stopped. Keep an eye on how they breathe and consult a pediatrician if you are worried.

My doctor explained that simple snoring is just the vibration of throat tissues, whereas sleep apnea involves actual pauses in breathing. He suggested checking if there is daytime fatigue or choking sounds at night to differentiate the two.

Yes, many people snore occasionally due to a cold or sleeping position without having sleep apnea. It is quite common, so try not to worry too much unless it affects your daily energy.

Many people snore simply because of poor neck muscle tone or carrying extra weight around the neck. Improving your cardiovascular fitness and reducing body fat percentage can often eliminate snoring completely.

Snoring can happen due to weight gain or throat muscle relaxation. As a diabetic, I have to be careful since sleep apnea is linked to insulin resistance. Losing a bit of weight through a controlled diet helped reduce my snoring significantly.
