Can you smoke with type 2 diabetes?

My father has had Type 2 diabetes for many years and he still smokes a pack a day. His doctor has told him to quit many times. I wanted to understand the specific risks of smoking when you have type 2 diabetes. What are the main dangers?

Haan na, smoking with diabetes is like invitation to trouble. It narrows down the blood vessels and makes blood circulation very poor, which is already a big issue for diabetic patients. Better to avoid it completely.

I am new here and my uncle was just diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Does smoking make the diabetes medicines less effective too? I am really worried about him and want to help him quit.

When my father was admitted to Apollo Hospital, his cardiologist told him clearly that smoking double-folds the risk of heart attacks for diabetic patients. You must consult your specialist and get a proper plan to quit smoking.

Don't look for excuses online to continue smoking. It is medically proven that smoking makes insulin resistance much worse. Get a reality check from your doctor instead of reading forums.

Absolutely not, smoking is the worst thing you can do if you have type 2 diabetes. It drastically increases your risk of nerve damage, kidney disease, and cardiovascular complications. You need to stop immediately.

Hey, don't stress too much, quitting is hard but you can absolutely do it! Smoking with diabetes makes your heart work twice as hard, which isn't good. Take it one day at a time and try to reduce slowly.

I know how stressful it is to manage cravings while dealing with a diabetes diagnosis, it emotionally drained me. But smoking really worsens your circulation, which is dangerous for your feet. Please seek counseling to help you cope.

I manage my type 2 diabetes with a strict diet and zero smoking. Smoking damages your blood vessels, which combined with high blood sugar, leads to rapid blockages. Please prioritize your health and stay away from cigarettes.

Actually yaar, smoking makes your blood sugar control so much harder. It increases insulin resistance, meaning your medicines won't even work properly. It's really not worth the risk.

Bhai, diabetes is already a heavy burden on the body. Smoking makes your legs and hands feel numb much faster. Please leave this bad habit for the sake of your family and kids.
