Can you sleep with wax on your braces?

My braces are sometimes very uncomfortable and rub against my cheeks, especially at night. My orthodontist suggested using wax for relief, which helps a lot. Can I sleep with wax on my braces, or should I remove it before going to bed?

I slept with orthodontic wax on my braces almost every night during my first month because the brackets were cutting my cheeks. It never caused me any issues, even if I accidentally swallowed a tiny bit.

I was looking this up because my cousin just got braces. Apparently, the dental wax is completely non-toxic and safe to swallow, so sleeping with it is totally fine and actually recommended to prevent mouth sores.

Bro, sleeping with wax is totally fine. I have swallowed it like ten times in my sleep and I am still alive! It is better than waking up with bloody cheeks in the morning.

Yes, you can absolutely sleep with it! It was a lifesaver for me when I got my braces adjusted last month. Just make sure to put fresh wax before sleeping so it doesn't fall off easily.

Yes, orthodontic wax is non-toxic and designed for overnight use. Just clean your teeth well before applying it, and replace it with fresh wax if it gets loose.
