Can you sleep with partial dentures in your mouth?

I recently got partial dentures, and my dentist gave me instructions for cleaning them. I forgot to ask him if I should remove them at night or if it's fine to sleep with them in. My old uncle always took his out, so I'm a bit confused.

It is highly recommended to remove partial dentures before sleeping. Leaving them in can lead to bone loss in the jaw and fungal infections on your gums. Consult your dentist to confirm what is safest for your specific dental structure.

Please remove them to keep your mouth clean. Just like thyroid issues require regular monitoring and doctor visits to keep things under control, oral health also needs active care and routine dentist checkups.

I used to sleep with my partials in, and over time, it caused a severe gum infection and loosened my adjacent natural teeth. Please take them out every night and wash them. If you feel any soreness, see your dentist immediately.

Always take them out at night, dear. It gives your gums a chance to rest and recover from the pressure. Just clean them gently and keep them in a cup of water by your bedside.

For those of us managing diabetes, keeping partial dentures in overnight is risky because it promotes bacterial growth. Since oral infections can affect blood sugar levels, it is best to take them out and keep your gums clean.
