Can you sleep with hearing aids?

My mother, who uses hearing aids, often forgets to take them out before sleeping. Is it okay to sleep with hearing aids in, or could it damage them or cause any discomfort or harm to her ears?

No, you should always remove your hearing aids before sleeping to protect your ears and the device.

It is best to sleep without any external devices to let your mind and body fully rest in silence. Removing them allows the ear canal to air out naturally, which keeps your system balanced. Try doing deep breathing exercises before sleep instead.

Always keep your hearing aids in their box before going to bed. Sleeping with them can cause feedback noise or even damage the delicate parts. Keep your ears clean and massage them gently with a little warm sesame oil occasionally during the day.

My husband has been using hearing aids for fifteen years now. He always takes them out at night because sleeping on them can crack the casing or cause sores inside the ear. Trust me, it is much safer and more comfortable to sleep without them.

I tried sleeping with mine once because I wanted to hear the alarm, but the squealing feedback sound woke me up instantly. Now I just use a vibrating alarm under my pillow. It is much better and saves the expensive battery too.

My uncle did this once by mistake and the tiny dome got stuck inside his ear, which was so scary to remove. Please take them off and put them in the dehumidifying case every night. It keeps them clean and safe.
