Can you sleep with dentures in your mouth?

I've been wearing dentures for a while now, and sometimes I just forget to take them out at night. Is it generally advisable to sleep with dentures in your mouth, or are there specific health reasons why one should always remove them before bed?

For busy professionals, routines matter. Make taking out your dentures a non-negotiable part of your bedtime routine, just like setting your morning alarm. Leaving them in overnight leads to bacteria buildup and bad breath, which you definitely don't want at work.

Just like your body and muscles need rest and recovery overnight, your gums need a break from the pressure of dentures. Removing them prevents tissue irritation and infections, helping you maintain better overall oral health.

My grandmother used to sleep with hers because she felt embarrassed without them. But we explained to her that keeping them in can cause painful yeast infections in the mouth. Once she started soaking them at night, her mouth felt much cleaner and healthier.

From a hygiene tracking perspective, keeping dentures in overnight creates a breeding ground for plaque and bacteria. Taking them out and soaking them in a cleansing solution keeps your oral microbiome balanced. It's a simple habit that prevents major dental issues later.

I worry so much about micro-cracks and bacterial infections in the gums from wearing dentures too long. It is definitely much safer to take them out to prevent any inflammation or choking hazard while you sleep. Taking precautions always saves us from unwanted panic.

My dad once fell asleep with his dentures and woke up terrified thinking he would choke. I called his dentist who reassured us that while it's not ideal, a single night won't cause harm. Just clean them well and let the gums rest the next night.
