Can you sleep with airpods in?

I often fall asleep listening to music or podcasts with my AirPods in. Is it okay to sleep with them in all night, or could it be bad for my ears or pose any other health risks?

I love listening to podcasts to wind down after a heavy workout, but sleeping with AirPods in is not a great idea. They can hurt your ear canal if you roll over, and they trap sweat and wax. Better to use a regular speaker on low volume.

My teenage daughter had a habit of sleeping with her airpods on and ended up with a painful outer ear infection. The doctor scolded us because ears need proper ventilation, especially at night. We now have a strict rule of keeping all earphones outside the bedroom before sleeping.

I sometimes fall asleep watching cooking videos with my pods in, especially when I have late-night biryani cravings! But honestly, I always wake up with sore ears. It's much better to just play the audio on your phone speaker next to your pillow.

My son used to do this and always complained of ear pain. I made him stop and instead started putting a drop of warm mustard oil in his ears once a week to clear wax. For sleep, a cup of warm chamomile tea or warm milk works much better than any electronic device.

I used to listen to calming music on my AirPods to sleep because of my high blood pressure and stress. But my doctor advised against blocking my ears all night because it can cause ear infections and raise anxiety if you wake up with a clogged ear. Now I just practice quiet breathing.

I prefer listening to audiobooks during my evening walks rather than during sleep. Sleeping with tight ear buds can cause skin irritation and ear wax impaction. If you are restless, try a 15-minute gentle walk before dinner to help you sleep naturally.
