Can you sleep with a tampon in?

I usually use tampons during my period, and it's much more comfortable for sleeping than pads. But I've heard some things about keeping them in too long. Is it truly safe to sleep with a tampon in overnight, or should I be worried about any risks?

In my practice, I always guide women to let their bodies flow as naturally as possible during sleep. If you choose to sleep with a tampon, make sure it is put in just before sleeping and removed first thing in the morning. Keeping it for more than 8 hours is not gentle on the body's natural system.

Please be very careful with this. I once left a tampon in for too long because I fell asleep and ended up with a high fever and a severe infection that I ignored for days. If you ever feel feverish, dizzy, or unwell after using one, please go to a clinic immediately. Don't risk it.

Technically yes, but only if you plan to wake up in 8 hours! If you are a champion sleeper who loves a 10-hour weekend snooze, you are definitely risking a mini biological disaster. Stick to a classic pad or a menstrual cup for those long, glorious sleep sessions.

Yes, you can sleep with it, but the 8-hour limit is real. I usually prefer a cup or a heavy-duty pad at night so my body can fully relax and recover from my training sessions without me worrying about a timer. Also, drinking enough water helps keep bloating down during this time.

I have been using tampons for over 15 years. You can absolutely sleep in them, but you must insert a fresh one right before hitting the pillow and set an alarm to change it within 8 hours max. If you know you will oversleep, just switch to an overnight pad to be safe from Toxic Shock Syndrome.
