Can you sleep train at 4 months?

Our 4-month-old is still waking up so many times through the night, and I'm really struggling with sleep. I'm wondering if it's a good time to start sleep training, or if I should wait a bit longer for her development?

Yes, 4 months is generally the age when you can start gentle sleep training! 🥰 Just make sure to follow a sweet and simple bedtime routine like dimming the lights and playing soft music. Good luck to you and the baby! 👍

At 4 months, my niece was still waking up for her midnight milk cravings, so strict sleep training was a bit tough. You can start with light habits, but don't expect them to skip their late-night feeds completely just yet!

Look, 4 months is the absolute earliest you can even think about it because their sleep cycles start to mature now. But don't expect miracles in three days. Be consistent, keep a calm routine, and give the baby some time to adapt.

Don't blindly follow fancy sleep-training guides or sleep gurus on Instagram. Every baby's development is totally different. It is much safer to verify with your pediatrician if your baby is physically ready for sleep training at 4 months.

I am so anxious about starting this with my 4-month-old because I worry the crying will stress her out too much. If you do try it, please go very gently and remember it is okay to pause and try again in a few weeks if it feels too overwhelming.
