Can you sleep train at 3 months?

My baby is 3 months old now, and we're all so sleep-deprived. I've heard about sleep training, but some people say it's too early at this age. Is it generally considered safe or effective to start sleep training a baby at 3 months?

I just went through this with my baby. At 3 months, they are still too young for formal sleep training like the cry-it-out method because their circadian rhythms are still developing. Instead, just focus on a simple, consistent bedtime routine like a warm bath and gentle rocking.

At 3 months, their bodies are growing so fast and they need regular feeds, so strict sleep training isn't recommended. Just like physical recovery, consistency with a calm sleeping environment and regular daytime light exposure helps them naturally settle down.

My mother told me to let the baby sleep whenever they want at this stage, and our pediatrician also agreed. A 3-month-old baby is too small for sleep training. It is much better to wait until they are at least 4 or 5 months old and consult your doctor first.

Honestly, 3 months is too early. My sister tried it with her baby boy and it just led to a lot of crying and stress for everyone. Pediatricians usually say to wait until 4 to 6 months when their sleep cycles are more mature.

In my experience with my daughter, 3 months was way too early for any strict training. She still needed frequent night feeds, so we just went with her natural flow and waited until she was 5 months old to start a proper routine.
