Can you sleep on a new tattoo?

I just got a new tattoo on my back yesterday, and it's still a bit sore. I usually sleep on my back, but I'm worried about messing up the tattoo or irritating it. Is it safe to sleep directly on a new tattoo, or should I try to sleep in a different position for a few nights?

Try not to put direct pressure on your new ink while sleeping. I wore my fitness band to track my sleep quality when I got mine, and noticed I woke up tossing and turning to avoid sleeping on my arm. Keep it clean and elevated.

Congrats on the new ink! 🎉 Definitely avoid sleeping directly on it for the first week. Use clean sheets and try to sleep in a position that keeps the tattoo exposed to air so it heals beautifully!

Don't follow random hacks online like wrapping it in kitchen plastic wrap overnight. Follow your tattoo artist's specific healing instructions. If you notice oozing, extreme redness, or run a fever, go straight to a doctor.

Your skin has undergone a small trauma, so treat it with gentle care and patience. Stay positive, keep the area clean, and rest in a comfortable position that doesn't put pressure on your new art. Take care.

I got my back piece done last month and had to sleep on my stomach for a week. It is a bit uncomfortable but sleeping directly on a fresh tattoo will stick to your sheets and ruin the ink. Definitely avoid it.
