Can you sleep in monthly contacts?

I use monthly disposable contact lenses, and sometimes I accidentally fall asleep with them in, especially during a long train journey or while watching a movie. My friend told me it's very bad for the eyes. How harmful is it really to sleep in monthly contacts, even if it's just sometimes?

Honestly, even if you are totally exhausted after a killer workout, take those lenses out. Your eyes need oxygen to stay healthy, just like your muscles need recovery time. Sleeping in them is a huge risk.

As someone who deals with healthcare, I highly advise against sleeping in monthly lenses. It cuts off oxygen flow to your cornea, which dramatically increases the risk of corneal ulcers and bad infections. Always remove them before sleeping.

Bilkul nahi, don't even think about it. Monthly contacts just means they last for a month, not that you can keep them inside your eyes for 30 days straight! Take them out every single night, wash them, and put them in the case.

Hey, don't stress too much if you accidentally dozed off in them once! Just gently remove them, put some soothing drops if you have them, and give your eyes a rest tomorrow by wearing glasses. Just try to make it a habit to take them out.

If your eyes feel dry after wearing them, give them a break and splash some clean, cool water on your face. But never sleep in them, as it can cause severe damage. If you wake up with red, painful eyes, go see an eye specialist immediately.

Unless your doctor has specifically prescribed extended-wear lenses that are FDA-approved for overnight use, please don't do it. Regular monthly lenses are definitely not designed for sleeping. It's always best to consult your ophthalmologist on this.
