Can you see cancer with an xray?

My elder brother was recently diagnosed with lung cancer, and it was detected through various scans. It makes me wonder about the effectiveness of regular check-ups. Is it possible for cancer to be spotted on a simple X-ray image?

An X-ray might show a shadow or some bone abnormalities, but it can miss a lot of details. In my family's case, we delayed further testing because the initial X-ray looked normal, which caused complications later. Please see an oncologist and get a proper CT or biopsy done.

Just like keeping my BP under control requires proper clinic visits, diagnosing serious issues needs the right imaging. An X-ray can sometimes show bone tumors or lung spots, but it is not a definitive test. Always get a thorough checkup done by a specialist.

I always prefer being cautious and not jumping to conclusions with health. From what I have read, X-rays are basic scans and usually cannot confirm cancer on their own. It is always better to get a specialist's opinion rather than guessing.

I am not very familiar with these tests, but does a regular chest X-ray show lung masses clearly? Or do doctors always ask for a CT scan if they suspect something serious?

An X-ray alone is rarely enough to diagnose cancer as it doesn't show soft tissue details well. Since I manage my health with regular follow-ups for my thyroid, I always suggest not leaving things to chance. Please consult a specialist for proper diagnostic advice.

Haan na, X-ray toh sirf basic chiz batata hai. Bone cancer ya chest tumor ho toh thoda shadow dikhta hai, par poora clear nahi pata chalta. For proper diagnosis, you have to do other tests like CT scan or biopsy.

My doctor explained that X-rays can detect changes in bones or large masses in the chest, but they lack the detail to see early-stage cancers or soft tissue tumors. They are mostly used as a quick first screening before moving on to CT scans or MRIs.
