Can you scuba with asthma?

My friends are planning a scuba trip to Goa next month, and they've asked me to join. I have mild asthma that rarely flares up, but I'm wondering if it's generally advised to scuba dive if you have this condition. Should I check with a doctor first?

I manage my BP with regular checkups and lifestyle changes, and I know how crucial cardiovascular health is for any adventure sport. With asthma, you must get your lungs tested properly before trying scuba. Don't take a chance without a medical clearance.

I actually went for a dive trip last month and I have mild asthma. The instructor made me get a clearance certificate from a local doctor first. They checked my peak flow levels to ensure my airways were stable enough for the dry tank air.

I have mild asthma and tried diving in Goa. Honestly, the instructor was very strict and didn't allow me until I showed a doctor's note. The dry air from the cylinder can make your throat feel really dry and tight, so be careful.

Just like I have to keep tracking my thyroid levels, respiratory health also needs constant monitoring. If you want to scuba dive, you should definitely book a lung function test and talk to your specialist first. Don't rush into it.

Beta, asthma is a serious thing to manage. While warm herbal teas and steam help at home, they cannot help you under the sea. You must consult a proper doctor and get your chest checked before thinking of such sports.

Diving is amazing but safety comes first! If your asthma is well controlled and your doc says go ahead, you will have a blast. Just get that medical checkup done first to be completely relaxed.

I usually suggest ginger tea or pranayama for mild respiratory issues, but diving is a different story. If you have asthma, any sudden trigger underwater can become a medical emergency. Go to a proper doctor and get cleared first.

Most certified dive shops won't even let you touch the gear if you tick 'yes' to asthma on the form. Save yourself the trouble and get a doctor's clearance beforehand. It is standard safety protocol.

Please don't take this lightly. I once ignored a mild wheeze before a trek and had a horrible time. Underwater, an asthma attack can be fatal if you can't ascend quickly, so get a proper clinical evaluation done first.

Keeping active is great, but asthma requires caution. If your doctor allows, you can build up your lung capacity with swimming and light cardio first. But for scuba diving, get a formal medical sign-off before jumping in.

I always avoid overexerting myself when my body is feeling off. Asthma and scuba diving can be a tricky combination because pressure changes affect breathing. Please check with your doctor for safety rather than going by online forums.

Hey! My friend wanted to dive but she has asthma. She was advised that if you haven't had an attack in years and have normal lung function tests, it might be okay. But you still need a specialist's signature on the medical form.
