Can you run a fever with allergies?

Every spring, I get terrible allergies – sneezing, runny nose, itchy eyes and throat. Sometimes I also feel a bit rundown and warm, almost like I'm coming down with something. Can allergies actually make you run a fever?

No, allergies don't typically cause a fever. If you have a temperature, it is likely a cold or viral infection.

I was actually reading about this yesterday because I had bad sneezing and felt warm. Turns out allergies only cause itchiness and congestion, not an actual fever, which usually points to a virus.

In all my years of dealing with seasonal dust allergies, I have never had a fever. If you are running a temperature, your body is likely fighting an infection, so take some rest.

Allergies don't cause fevers. If you have a fever, it's likely a sinus infection or flu, so save time and see a doctor rather than waiting for allergy pills to work.

A fever is usually a sign of infection, not just allergies. Make sure to get a checkup from your family doctor, especially if you have other health issues, to get the right treatment.
