Can you put neosporin on eczema?

My eczema patches sometimes look a bit red and feel like they might get infected, especially if I scratch them. I have Neosporin cream at home. Is it okay to put Neosporin on eczema, or should I use something else?

My daughter has sensitive eczema-prone skin, and our pediatrician told us Neosporin isn't meant for regular eczema. It can actually cause an allergic skin reaction in some kids. It is much safer to use a doctor-recommended ceramide cream to soothe the dry skin.

I once ignored my raw eczema patches and just kept putting random antibiotic creams on them, which led to a major skin infection. Neosporin won't cure eczema because eczema is inflammatory, not bacterial. Please get a proper dermatologist checkup before things get worse.

In my long experience with skin issues, using antibiotic creams like Neosporin on simple eczema is not correct. Eczema needs hydration and mild steroid creams when it is very bad, which only a doctor should prescribe. Don't worry, with proper care and diet, it settles down.

No child, Neosporin is not the right treatment for eczema. Eczema skin is very delicate and can react badly to such ointments. Applying a little pure virgin coconut oil is a gentle, time-tested way to keep the skin moist, but do consult a skin doctor for treatment.

No, Neosporin is not for eczema. Eczema is an autoimmune inflammatory condition, while Neosporin is for minor bacterial cuts. Unless your eczema skin is cracked and has a secondary bacterial infection, skip the Neosporin and consult your doctor.
