Can you pop an eye blood vessel from vomiting?

I had a terrible stomach bug last night and vomited quite violently. This morning, I noticed a tiny red spot in the white part of my eye. Can you pop a blood vessel in your eye just from vomiting really hard?

Yes, the pressure on your face during heavy vomiting can cause a tiny blood vessel in the eye to burst. I have seen this happen when people strain too hard. Try to practice deep, gentle breathing to calm your stomach, and don't strain your body so much.

It definitely can happen because vomiting puts a lot of sudden pressure on your head. When your stomach is upset, stick to very light khichdi and buttermilk to avoid further vomiting episodes. If your eye looks very red or hurts, please consult an eye specialist.

I totally get it, seeing a red spot in your eye can look so scary after you've been sick. It actually happens quite often due to the intense pressure of throwing up. Just rest your eyes and let them heal, but do show a doctor if there is any pain or vision change.

My daughter had a bright red spot in her eye after a night of severe vomiting due to stomach flu. The pediatrician told us not to worry as the pressure bursts those tiny vessels, and it went away in 10 days. Keep them hydrated and consult a doctor if it doesn't fade.

Yes, this happened to me after a bad food poisoning episode. The red spot usually clears up on its own in a week, but do visit an eye doctor if your vision feels even slightly blurry.
