Can you poop in your sleep if you have diarrhea?

I've been having very bad diarrhea for the last two days, and I'm really worried about having an accident at night. Is it possible to accidentally poop in your sleep if you have severe diarrhea, or does your body always wake you up?

Actually yaar, it can happen if you have a really bad stomach infection. When you are sleeping deeply, your body is so exhausted that the loose stools can leak out without you realizing. Just take some ORS and don't feel bad about it.

Yes, severe diarrhea can cause accidental bowel leakage during sleep. I suggest using a protective sheet on the bed and keeping a bucket or toilet path clear. Drink plenty of electrolyte water and consult a doctor if it doesn't stop in 24 hours.

Oh, tell me about it! When the stomach decide to go on strike, it doesn't care if you are awake or asleep. It is embarrassing but quite common with food poisoning. Just wear an adult diaper for the night if you are too worried, and see a doctor.

Yeah, when your gut is totally irritated, the muscles can't hold the liquid stool, especially when you are deeply asleep. Stick to a simple diet of curd rice and bananas for a day to bind your stomach, and avoid dairy or fatty foods.

I just recovered from severe gastro last week and this happened to me on the first night. The pressure is so high and stools are completely watery, so it just leaks out in sleep. Once the doctor started me on antibiotics, it stopped immediately.
