Can you play sports with asthma?

I love playing kabaddi and badminton, but I was recently diagnosed with mild asthma. My friends say I should stop playing, but I really don't want to. Can I still play sports with asthma, and what precautions should I take?

Yes, you can definitely play sports. Many professional athletes actually have asthma. Just ensure you carry your inhaler to the field and take a short break if you feel tired.

My son has asthma and plays football regularly. We always make sure he uses his doctor-prescribed inhaler 15 minutes before starting the game. It is also important to inform the coach so they know what to do in case of any breathlessness.

Yes, you can play, but starting with a good 10-minute warm-up is very important to prepare your lungs. Swimming is also a great option as the humid air is gentler on asthmatic lungs. Keep your inhaler handy in your sports kit.

I totally get it, you might feel scared that running around will trigger an attack. But with the right medication, you can enjoy almost any sport. Just listen to your body and don't push yourself too hard on cold days.

It is completely fine to play sports, but please consult your doctor first to make sure your asthma is well-controlled. It's better to be safe and have a proper action plan before starting any high-intensity activity.
