Can you make refried beans with kidney beans?

For a Mexican dish, I want to try making some refried beans, but I only have kidney beans. Is it possible to use kidney beans for refried beans, or do I need a specific type of bean for that? I'm curious if it will work out.

Oh absolutely, I make Mexican taco nights at home using our regular rajma all the time! Just mash them up with some garlic, cumin, and onions in a pan. Honestly, it tastes even richer and creamier than the standard pinto beans.

Yes, kidney beans work wonderfully for refried beans. Just make sure to retain a bit of the cooking water while mashing to get that perfect smooth texture.

Arrey, don't stress too much about getting authentic Mexican beans. Just use whatever rajma you have in your kitchen, boil them extra soft, and mash them with a little butter or oil. It turns out so good with warm parathas or wraps!

Yes, kidney beans can be used to make refried beans as they share a similar nutritional and starch profile. My doctor mentioned that mashing beans actually makes them slightly easier to digest, though people prone to bloating should still rinse them thoroughly after boiling to reduce gas-causing compounds.

Why spend extra money on imported canned beans when we have local rajma at home? Just use yesterday's leftover boiled rajma, temper it with some chopped onions, garlic, and green chilies, and mash it well. It is a highly budget-friendly and healthy option for the family.
