Can you live without a kidney?

My grandfather is on dialysis, and his kidneys have completely failed. It makes me wonder about the human body. Is it really possible to live without functioning kidneys, or are the machines essentially doing the job for him? I want to understand more about this.

Beta, God has given us two kidneys but one is enough to clean our blood. Just make sure to drink plenty of clean water and avoid taking unnecessary painkiller medicines as they hurt the system. Keep your food simple and low in salt.

I totally get it, this kind of question can make anyone super anxious. Yes, you can absolutely live a long, healthy life with just one kidney. My cousin donated hers and she is doing absolutely amazing, so don't worry too much.

As someone managing high blood pressure, I know how vital kidneys are. You can live fine with one, but you have to monitor your BP very closely. Regular kidney function tests and checking your salt intake is a must to avoid putting pressure on it.

Honestly, if I can survive on three hours of sleep and pure coffee, a person can easily live with one kidney. Joking aside, yes it's totally possible. You just need to take decent care of yourself unlike what I am doing to my own body right now!

With a calm mind and disciplined living, one kidney is more than enough for the body. Practicing gentle pranayama and eating fresh, home-cooked satvik food keeps the load off your single kidney. Keep your system clean and trust your body's healing power.

I can only share what happened in my family. My father had to get one kidney removed due to an infection ten years ago. He is seventy now and goes for his daily walks, eats normally, and is doing perfectly fine with his single kidney.

At fifty-four, my body parts are complaining anyway, but yes, you can definitely manage with one kidney. Many donors live a completely normal lifespan without any major drama. Just don't treat your body like a garbage bin and you will be completely fine.

Hello, I am new here and don't know much about this. But I read that people can live normally with one kidney. Do they have to take medicines daily for the rest of their lives, or is it just about keeping a healthy diet? Please guide.

Bro, yes you can! Some people are literally born with just one and dont even know about it till they get some random scan done later. You just have to be a bit careful and avoid rough contact sports so you dont injure it.

Actually yaar, it is totally possible. My building friend has only one kidney since childhood and he lives a super normal life. He just avoids drinking too much cola and keeps himself hydrated. Relax, nothing to panic about.
