Can you live with only one kidney?

I recently had a scan for a different issue, and it revealed that I only have one functioning kidney. This news has really shaken me. I'm trying to understand if I can live a completely normal and healthy life with just one kidney, or if I need to take special precautions now.

I completely understand how worrying this can be, but you can live a very healthy life. I have found that drinking plenty of warm water throughout the day and reducing packed, salty snacks keeps my single kidney very happy. Just focus on a clean, simple lifestyle and you will be fine.

Yes, absolutely. The main thing is to avoid heavy physical stress on the back and keep your diabetes and blood pressure under control. Getting a simple blood and urine test once a year is an easy, low-cost way to ensure everything is running smoothly.

I would probably be terrified if I was in this position because I always worry about the worst-case scenario. But from everything I have read, the body is amazing at adapting, and the single kidney just takes over the extra work. Try to stay positive, we are here to support you!

It is very much possible to live normally, but you should keep some savings aside for annual kidney function tests and ultrasounds. Preventive checks at a government lab or via affordable diagnostic packages will help you stay healthy without burning a hole in your pocket.

By God's grace, our bodies are very strong. Drink enough water, eat freshly prepared hot meals, and avoid stale food or heavy, spicy pickles that overload the system. Take care of your health and live peacefully.
