Can you live with 20 percent liver function?

My uncle has been suffering from liver problems for a long time, and the doctor recently told us his liver function is only at 20 percent. We are very concerned and trying to understand what this means for his future. Can someone actually live with such low liver function?

A 20 percent liver function is a serious condition that requires immediate and close medical monitoring. Please make sure you are regularly consulting a hepatologist to prevent any sudden liver failure or toxins buildup.

I was looking up liver regeneration recently out of curiosity. While the liver is great at healing, 20% function usually means advanced scarring or cirrhosis. It typically requires advanced medical therapy or a transplant evaluation.

My friend's father dealt with severe liver damage and had low function too. It was a tough phase, but with a strict salt-free diet and regular hospital visits, they managed to keep him stable. Please stay strong and follow the doctors closely.

I know how stressful chronic health conditions can be, but liver issues need very precise care. Please don't rely on generic advice or try any sudden weight-loss diets without your specialist's direct approval.

To be direct, 20% liver function means you are in the decompensated stage. You must be under a top transplant team's care at a good hospital. Don't delay or try alternative therapies at this point.

At this stage, managing fluid accumulation and diet is very critical. Stick strictly to boiled, oil-free meals and avoid any self-medication or heavy protein intake. Keep all your medical records ready in a file for regular reviews.

At 20 percent, the liver is working overtime on basic survival mode, just like me on a Monday morning! Jokes aside, please take extreme care, cut out all junk, and listen only to your specialist doctor.
