Can you legally drive after a stroke?

My neighbour had a stroke a few months ago and is slowly recovering. He's asking about driving again, but his family is worried. After having a stroke, is it legally allowed to drive in India, and what are the rules?

Driving depends entirely on your recovery and medical fitness. As a BP patient, I know how sudden health issues can be, so regular checkups are a must. You legally need a doctor to sign off on your physical fitness before getting back behind the wheel.

Recovery is a slow journey of reconnecting the mind and body. Gentle practice of daily breathing exercises can help restore coordination over time. Please do not hurry into driving; wait until your motor skills are fully stable and approved by your therapist.

I suffered a minor stroke last year and had to stop driving for six months. Legally, the RTO requires a medical certificate stating you are fit to drive without sudden risks. I had to undergo proper rehab and get my neurologist's clearance first.

Driving on Indian roads is stressful enough even for fully healthy people! Don't rush back to driving; hire a driver or use cabs for a bit. Let your brain rest while someone else deals with the traffic drama.

Hey, don't stress too much about driving right now. Your safety and recovery are way more important than running errands. Take your time, focus on healing, and get your doctor's green light whenever you feel ready.
