Can you join the military with psoriasis?

I have psoriasis, but it's mild and I manage it well with medication. I'm really interested in joining the military. I'm worried about the strict medical standards. Can you join the military with psoriasis?

In my service days, any chronic skin condition that required constant medical attention was not accepted. Military life requires you to be in tough conditions where dermatologists are not easily available. Focus on managing your skin health first, there are other ways to serve.

Actually yaar, psoriasis is quite a big issue during military medicals. If you have active plaques, especially on your hands or face, they will reject you. The uniform friction and extreme heat will make it super itchy and painful, honestly.

I totally get it, dealing with psoriasis flare-ups is already so frustrating, and having it affect your career goals makes it even harder. But military medical boards are very strict about chronic skin conditions for your own protection. Please take care of your health.

I use tracking apps to manage my lifestyle and skin flares. Sweating during intense workouts is a major trigger for psoriasis patches. Given how grueling military training is, keeping your skin clear under heavy combat gear is practically impossible.

Before you spend a lot on recruitment prep, visit a good government skin specialist. Ask for a clear diagnosis of your current severity. If it's very mild, see if you qualify for a waiver, otherwise it's best to look at civilian job options.

Just like keeping my blood pressure in check, psoriasis is highly linked to stress levels. The high-tension environment of military training can trigger severe flare-ups. It is wiser to opt for a stable career where you can manage your symptoms comfortably.
